Post Natal Depression

I support mums who feel helpless, guilty, alone and overwhelmed to feel valued, acknowledged, manage their expectations and recognize their self worth.

When women go through Post Natal Depression (PND), it can be one of the most lonely times of their lives.  Women often describe this time as coping with feeling helpless, alone, overwhelmed, guilty or that they have failed in someway.

There are many factors that can trigger PND and it will vary between mothers as to how they respond to these triggers.  An unplanned pregnancy, coping with a bereavement, significantly stressful situations such as the end of a relationship are just some of the factors that can trigger PND.

If you feel that you can’t cope following the birth of your baby, don’t compare yourself to other mums.  A trigger for one mum will have a different outcome to another mum.  This is not a sign that one mother is stronger or that one situation is graded worse than another, how we respond to these events will vary and it is a very personal experience to you.

PND can also occur with no obvious trigger or history of depression.  If you feel like you are struggling to cope with motherhood, then you are not alone and you can do something about it.  If you are at a point when you are ready to start working through your feelings to give you the chance to enjoy your time as a mother, please give me a ring or email to book an appointment.

If you’re struggling with feelings of being overwhelmed, hopelessness, helplessness, loneliness, guilt or feel like you’re not coping well, then don’t struggle on your own.  First of all, speak to your GP or Midwife.  There are also a number of ways that I can help and if you feel that it’s something that you’re struggling with, give me a call and book for a free no-obligation appointment to have a chat and find out more about how I can help.
